This landscape is full of drama and contrasts. Such impressive views were very popular in the first half of the 19th century. Whether they presented a realistic scene was irrelevant; they were made to convey the grandeur and power of nature and to strike an emotional chord.

Dit is een landschap vol drama en contrasten. Dergelijke indrukwekkende landschappen waren heel populair in de eerste helft van de 19de eeuw.
