The body of this cup is made from the shell of a marine mollusc, the nautilus. It also served as the inspiration for the decoration, which consists of a multitude of sea creatures. Dolphins and mermaids swim around the foot; fish, sea gods and goddesses form the bands of the mount.

Het lichaam van deze beker is het huis van een zeeslak, de nautilus. Deze schelp was ook het uitgangspunt voor de versiering: overal zijn zeewezens te zien. Rond de voet zwemmen dolfijnen en zeemeerminnen. Vissen, zeegoden en godinnen vormen de banden van de montuur.
