Side chair, carved wood covered with gesso; silvered surface with gold and brown patination in recessed areas. Quadruped base in form of gnarled roots with front support rising as undulating stem to support seat; behind and to each side of this is a slenderer stem support and at the rear, the rear stile of the chair slants backward, joining the rear edge of seat and rising to back above. Back is irregular pierced form of undulating iris leaves with an iris on diagonal in center. At right corner of crest rail is female face with long hair.
