About the Work

Curationist LogoCurationist Object Description

This Victorian collage is likely a page out of a "scrapbook house" or "paper doll house." These scrapbooks were created by American children during the late 19th century as a form of play as well as a way to learn about domestic life and interior design. Furniture, decor, housewares, appliances and figures were cut out of paper, arranged onto the pages, and then glued down. They were also used as a type of two-dimensional doll house for paper dolls.
