About the work

curationist logoCurationist Object Description
Decorated with floral motifs throughout, this albarello depicts a large blossoming flower on its side. This image may have alluded to its original contents of healing herbs though it leaves present-day minds speculating. It incorporates a broad, inverted shape and two handles with inverted, scalloped shoulders. The vessel presents the hallmark colors typical of Faenza majolica: deep blues, vibrant yellows, and hints of red.
