Curationist Object Description

A vividly colorful Indian chintz quilt with floral motifs throughout. The textile was most likely made as a private commission for someone with knowledge of European design. The quilt uses patterning inspired by French designs popular in Holland and England at the time of its creation. The textile exemplifies the impact of the Dutch East India Company on manufacturing and global trade at the height of its power.
