A box made in the Bidri style where cast metal is blackened and covered with luminous metal inlay. It once held areca nut and slaked lime, the primary ingredients of paan Siciliano-Rosen, Laura. "paan". Encyclopedia Britannica, www.britannica.com/topic/paan. Accessed 30 May 2022.. Paan is a mild intoxicant that is commonly consumed after meals as a digestive. The sleeping duck shape may have been influenced by Chinese porcelain of the time.
