About the work

Igal Kayab is a fan dance from the island of Tabawan performed during the ritual called “duwata”. The dance is traditionally performed by old female spirit mediums or shamans who have the ability to commune with the spirits via the performance of Igal; through the dance they achieve a state of conscious trance called “pataka” or “pattakahan”.
