Acerca de la obra

Curationist LogoDescripción de objeto de Curationist

Acoma Pueblo potter Lucy Lewis was a leading matriarch in the 20th century revival of Pueblo ceramics. This jar features low “shoulders” and a long “neck,” and is decorated with Lewis’s signature geometric precision. Lewis used a white slip to cover the jar, then drew on designs in black, typically with a yucca brush. The zigzags on this pot are associated with rainstorms. The design is smaller and more compressed on top, spreading out as it descends down the jar, conveying an awe-inspiring sense of balance and perspective on a curved surface.
