  • Creator: Utagawa Kunisada
  • Year: 1857
  • Location:

This artisan, decorated in various designs, is rinsing a textile in the water. While her garments are mainly designed using shibori and bingata techniques, katazome was implemented to create the abstract checkered print. Behind her is another fabric that contains two tones of indigo blue. A cartoon in the top left shows a clear image of the grand Mount Fuji.TypeImageView Originalhttp://collection.cooperhewitt.org/view/objects/asitem/id/137815SourceCooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design MuseumNotesNameIdentifierDatesPhysical DescriptionAdditional Info
