Marko Pogačnik is a Slovenian artist, author, and co-founder of the neo-avant garde artistic movement OHO (active 1966-1971). Deriving their name from from a combination of the Slovenian words for eye (oko) and ear (uho), the group sought to free objects and interactions from prescribed utilitarian functions. Much of the group’s output took the form of self-published “editions” of artists’ books and other printed matter employing experimental forms across a range of media.
This print, published in the student newspaper Tribuna in 1969 and entitled “RAPORT. NO.1.: raportiramo moderno umetnost” (REPORT. NO.1.: reporting modern art), is an example of Pogačnik’s recurring interest in numerical permutations and interrelations: elements that could be configured as abstract forms rather than mere informational content.
