Hair ornament with two wavy pins designed by Irena Brynner (American, b. Russia, 1917-2003).
Distinguished among America’s studio jewelers, Brynner’s personal style developed within a context of international art jewelry in the post-World War II era. Trained in painting and sculpture, she employed sculptural techniques, transforming uncut stones, minerals, and fragmentary objects into organic forms. Her work ultimately played a significant role in American jewelry design.
This hair ornament features long curved gold strips of various lengths, that seem to be bolted to main horizontal support, projecting at different angles but all in the same arc form.
