Circular flattened dome shape with large metal finial and hook; laquered bamboo hoops at intervals around horn bars; tortoiseshell band around base; three intricately carved and pierced triangular ivory feet. Decorations on or in cage of: carved ivory crab housing metal food (or water?) container; intricately carved ivory fish with human figure on its back, metal spring antennai-like projections at eyes, as stand for for short, cylindrical jade water container(?); arched carved and pierced ivory panel at door; turquoise glazed porcelain bowl with scene of crane in landscape; carved ivory standing figure (perch support?) in center of cage floor. Metal handle on underside of floor.
